I don't usually write reviews but after such a delightful experience at Black House, Leeds for a Sunday lunch with a friend I thought I'd give them the credit they certainly deserve. The decor is stylish and contemporary (but certainly not sparse like some 'modern restaurants' tend to be) the tall ceilings and low table lights create a classy atmosphere to hang out.
We sat at a table in front of the big glass windows at the front of the restaurant, having a perfect view of the outside terrace and listening to the live singer/pianist ( which apparently happens every day!)

The menu looks great with a wide selection of steaks and seafood, but because we were specifically after a Sunday lunch we took the waiters recommendation and went for the chicken roast for two.

We didn't have to wait long before our food arrived, uniquely presented on a raised wooden board and it certainly didn't take us long to devour the whole thing, with extra helpings of gravy!! The yorkshire puddings are also something to check out!! We were so full we couldn't manage desert but we did have a glimpse at the menu and they have a great selection and we decided we would definitely be going back to try the cherry chocolate torte soon.

The price is a little higher than the average Sunday lunch pub menu but this is certainly reflected in the quality and the atmosphere.

Would definitely recommend. Service, ambience and food all 5 star.

Went for lunch as they have a good terrace to enjoy the weather on!

Good lunch deal of meal and drink for £12.50. Service quick and efficient. Good spot to enjoy the sun!

Well worth a visit

First time visit last week. Had a lovely meal, I would recommend booking as we turn up on a Thursday and it was quite busy.

Good menu variety and portion sizes. Our server Hana was lovely and very friendly, not too "in your face". They had a live musician on which gave a really nice atmosphere.

Lots of steak and seafood options, good wine list, not too expensive for something decent.

We didn't have any cocktails but the ones I saw walking past looked really good.

Really good meal here yesterday (Sunday). Despite the snow there and lack of crowds there was a great atmosphere. Lots of families chilling and couples etc.

All very relaxed but with attentive service which wasn't too fussy or in your face.

We had one f the roast that are served to share. Portion was great, extra gravy wasn't an issue.

give it a go

Heard that a new menu had come out so thought we'd go give it a try.

Went for pie because it was miserable outside. Lots of chicken, very tasty. My girlfriend had lots of starters instead of a main and enjoyed them all. Should of had a steak as they looked great. Service was efficient and friendly. I was told they have live music everynight too. (we went for lunch)

Went to blackhouse at the weekend to celebrate my anniversary. We arrived at the restaurant early so we sat on the outside terrace which is gorgeous when the sun is shining. We had a couple pof cocktails and then was shown to our seats in the restaurant. The food and service was amazing. The waitress was very attentive but not over the top. There was a guy singing and playing the piano which really made the atmosphere. Will definitely be returning

We went for Valentines day after going on Google for a Steak restaurant in Leeds. Got to admit, we was very disappointed. The service was ok, but, the food is extremely over-priced, and the decor is average. We went for the Chateaubriand, which was extremely expensive for what it was, and we have experienced fine dining in London, Paris, Cape Town, New York etc and paid less, yet recieved better.

It should be on your weekly 'to do list'..have dinner at Blackhouse!
And if you are a bit sceptical go there just for a drink with some friends.
You will soon realize that the atmosphere and the service are phenomenal!

Great venue. Comfortable and homely. Great live music. Ate early then had a few drinks in the bar after soaking up the atmosphere. Tried the Kobe burger which is not cheap but well worth it. Never tasted a burger like it. Will definately be back.

5 Stars, Its is not very often a restaurant gets five stars from me, however dinned @ Blackhouse and it was amazing from start to finish.

Blackhouse is the kind of place that isnt stuffy, its just does exactly what it says on the tin. Myself and my partner went for Sunday Lunch.

I had the roast beef and my partner the grilled lobster with garlic butter. What can I say we savoured the taste of the beef and the lobster, and then finished lunch off with a couple of cheeky desserts....

I went for the apple crumble which was on special and my partner went for the lemon sorbet, what a perfect way to finish off an afternoon.

Our waitress Rachel was also great, as nothing was too much trouble for her! Cant wait to come back to Leeds and see you again x
