The Viaduct in Leeds is a weird little pub. It's oldy worldy-ness belies the throbbing dance crowd on a Saturday night. The Viaduct is now owned by terry George who's company APN also owns Fibre and Mission. But don't expect this pub to have the same aloofness and pretentions of the other APN bars.

Run by the lovely Hayley and her wife Jo, the pub has done the unthinkable over the last two years and gone from being a Leeds United Firm pub to one of the busiest and most popular venues on the gay scene in West Yorkshire.

A large part of this is due to their poaching the popular and very funny drag DJ Anna Glipta from The New Penny and her joining the team leant a certain acceptability in the eyes of the gays and lesbians of Leeds. Although recently A-G seems to have been sidelined in favour of lesser drag queen Lusy Lastic who can be found being incredibly vile and downright offensive on a Friday and Sunday.

Anna can still be found here on a Saturday night and the fact that this is the busiest night by far speaks volumes. I personally think Lastic is just a wannabe bargain basement Glipta but without the ability to pull it off.The bar staff are some of the friendliest in Leeds and though the girls outnumber the guys this is still a very welcoming pub.

With a basic but very cheap daytime menu and a home cooked roast dinner on a Sunday this is still a busy little pub. The decor needs an update, the toilets need a clean and the lightbulbs need replacing but none of this seems to matter one bit to the hundreds that pack the place every Saturday. Hopefully the management will realise why people stay away on a friday and Sunday. If not I think I will be only one of many who only ventures in on Saturdays.
