With glamorous decor, great drinks and a good menu Bar Room Bar hits all the right buttons. It's highly recommended.

The Venue
Try to sit in the room with the fireplace. You'll find armchairs with beautiful brown and purple floral upholstery that are easy to relax into. You'll also notice the ornate black frames of the many mirrors and all the glamorous details that make Bar Room Bar – BRB for friends- such an upmarket venue.

Alternatively you can sit on the high stools by the bar and this is the best place to catch the live acts that regularly play at Bar Room Bar. There is also another room with a second bar where every corner is decorated and even the ceiling has matching wallpaper. Everything looks new and well taken care of and there is no dingy area or roughness round the edges. Your eyes will sparkle looking at all this. It's part of a chain but it's one of the more upmarket ones so it offers a safe atmosphere without scrimping on style.

The People
Bar Room Bar is a friendly venue. Staff are very smiley, chatty on occasion and willing to please. However the bouncer may object to you entering the venue on busy Saturday nights when a strict dress code is in effect. This measure is necessary here. BRB is very popular and it's not possible to let in all the twenty and thirty somethings who want to drink here. During most of the weekend a DJ is on duty to deliver lounge tunes morphing into dance music as the night progresses. Other nights of the week host live acts playing a bit of everything with jazz and soul included.

The Food
Pizza is the speciality of Bar Room Bar. They serve six inch (£3.15 to £4.25), calzone (£4.75 to £7) and 12 inch(£5.75 to £8). Some of the toppings are classics with margherita, capriccioso and fiorentina but many are rather innovative. Try the bianca (roasted butternut squash, red onion, spinach, ricotta and pine nuts) or the crispy duck (shredded duck, hoi sin sauce, spring onions, cucumber, coriander and mozzarella). If you don't feel like pizza they serve salads (£4.25 to £7.75). It's worth trying both the panzanella (tomato, cucumber, peppers, olives, basil, roasted garlic and focaccia) or the roasted chicken salad with artichoke, marinated peppers, crustines, Parmesan and pesto.

Not found your perfect meal yet? Go for a sandwich (£4.75 to £7.75), a sharing platter (£5.75 to |£12.50) or a baked dish (£6.25 to £7.25). You can pick from the Bar Room Bar burger, a Mediterranean meze or Mexican platter, box-baked camembert with roasted garlic and rustic bread, spinach tartlet with feta and cherry tomato, lasagna and more. Walk in at lunch and you will walk out having eaten a 12 inch pizza with a drink and having spent only £6.

The Drink
The drink list is, for once, truly exciting. They serve a selection of world wines listed as Classic European Favourite, New Wave Europe (try the Statua Bianco and the Albarino A20), Addictive Asia (including the Chinese Noble Dragon from the Shandong Province), Adventurous America, Awesome Africa, Appealing Australasia. Prices are average at £11.50 to £27.50 a bottle and £3.85 to £6.55 and £2.90 to £5 for large and small glasses respectively.

The cocktails (£4.50 to £5.50) are just as exciting and they are also divided by geographical origin. From the European section, try the dolce banana made from rum, chocolate liqueur, creme de banana and fresh milk. Australia and the Pacific have pina colada, kiwi martini and others. Asia And Russia include classics like Singapore sling and caipiroska, while North and Latin America provide cosmopolitans, mojitors and others. From Africa try the Kaiser Chief (rum, pink grapefruit, vanilla syrup, dark chocolate syrup) or the Madagascan mojito with chocolate liqueur.

Every drink is well crafted and there is truly too much to choose. And the shooters (£3) and even the mocktails (£2.50) are all worth trying.

The Last Word
Dress to impress and expect only the best. Bar Room Bar does not provide anything but glamour, quality drinks, delicious food and a glittering atmosphere.
